Caution: may contain stuff, and stuff.
Larry, you had a post on your old blog called ‘Leaping Larry’s Classical List’ that was in reply to this list from the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/23/arts/music/23composers.html?_r=1&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha28). Reckon you could chuck it back on the new blog?
Have been trying to find this in my compewder files. If I can locate it – no luck so far – I’ll put it back up.
so I just got the jimmy page/black crowes album (awesome by the way) based on one of your recommendations from an old Trip magazine. Any chance you can add a list of other ‘forgotten’ classic albums?
Essendon FC Club song 2013 Dank Remix (200bpm!)
SEE THE BOMBERS SHOOT UP, UP!
TO CHEAT THE PREMIERSHIP FLAG.
OUR BOYS WHO PLAY THIS GRAND OLD GAME,
ARE ALWAYS STRIVING FOR PEPTIDES AGAIN!
SEE THE BOMBERS SHOOT UP, UP,
THE OTHER TEAMS THEY DON’T FEAR,
THEY ALL TRY THEIR BEST,
BUT THEY ARE VOID OF SPORT SCIENTISTS,
AS THE BOMBERS SHOOT UP!
I just say, regarding the last post, I mentally put “alleged” everywhere in that, in the interests of fairness.
With news of an 82 year old entertainer being questioned by London police I am reminded of a very, very old episode of Danger Low-Brow when you and Brett Duck totally lost on air discussing said entertainer and a well known song. Your remarks upon losing it could now, be ominously true.
Ahem. Well, you’re making an assumption about who the person is in the current news story. I certainly remember the on-air incident you refer to. Personally, I think there’s some quirks about how the media identified the arrested person while “not identifying” them, that actually left no alternatives for speculation, i.e. they did exactly what they were supposedly avoiding. But I won’t compound the error here. Nothing is “ominously true” yet, anyway. Being arrested isn’t the same thing as being convicted; and I don’t recall that even the charge has been identified yet, just that the person concerned was arrested. I don’t mind erring on the side of caution on this one.
I have had a lightbulb moment that you may want to share with your readers of The Sunday Age in that section entitled Yak Attack or something of that ilk. The popularity of last Sunday’s RecLink Community Cup – which I photographed on behalf of RL – attracted around 12,000 footy and music fans. Given the AFL’s desire yet failure to do the same thing in September, I think the Community Cup should be the curtain raiser to the AFL Grand Final. Just think! No more Batloaf moments and ‘Heat Out Of Hell’ renditions! In fact, come to think of it, how about relegating the AFL Granny to be the curtain raiser for the Community Cup??? You know it makes sense!!
MP Geoff Shaw has been described in the press as, “A disgrace to the people of Frankston.” (…and you can’t get much more disgraceful than that, except maybe being regarded as a disgrace to the people of Moe.)
Loved today’s comment about parking optimism at KP for soccer cup between Qatarrhistan and the Peoples’ Absolutely Dead-set Democratic Respublika of Crimeasvedpolopovetsy. But a real soccer team, ie, Melbourne Victory, drew 22,000+ to that same KP for a real H&A game. It’s all about WhoGivesAstuff.
